The Water Gods

It's a bird, it's a plane no, it's Michael Phelps the Water God!

The fastest man alive!
This thunderous cloud of power has taken the world of sports to a totally new level.

He stands a mere 6ft 4inches and has a wingspan of 6ft 7inches. His body is that of old cartoons V shaped and thin on the bottom (Weightlifter types). This is no man he is an amphibian. He has flippers. He has the body of a stingray. And, sting he did.
He cut into the dreams of every other contender.
No one in history has won the amount of Gold medals as Michael Phelps. No where on this planet that is.

From the moment he hits the water you see something you only see on the movie Little Mermaid. Not to classify him with the movie but how he moves - he swims like an animated merman.
It is absolutely impressive to watch. How does he do that?
I don't see the caliber of grace in the other swimmers.

He picks his speed and conserves for the last lap. Totally in control. In the middle he may be neck and neck but boy does he rise to the occasion and makes it look like a walk in the park. He burns 4,000 calories in one swim but breakfast is enough to feed an army.

On an interview with Mark Spitz (superhero #1) both Michael and Mark are very humble. Mark revered Michael and Michael obviously revered Mark. mark knew that at the 2004 Olympic games Michael would achieve beating his record of 7 golds. Mark being a true athlete wanted Michael to know he was proud of him.

It is really too bad that Mark wasn't invited to the games to witness this historical event. The powers that be should be ashamed of themselves. It's called manners and they don't have any. They expect manners and good sportsmanship form the athletes that is so high standard it is meant for a God and yet they do not practice what they preach.

These athletes have trained their entire lives for just a "moment". They have put their hearts and soul into preservation for just one "moment". The moment, they, with all their might and strength want to win. To be crowned in the Gold. Grueling regimes, dedication, injuries and criticism these athletes have been pressured and millions of dollars have been spent in order for these guys to claim the Gold.

Do you not think then that when the athlete does not win that he would be upset? His goals and purposes have been taken from them. Perhaps having to go home in disgrace. Yes, there is professionalism, good sportsmanship and there are "politiacly correct" ways to grieve your differences. A show of distaste is not good judgement. But if you project this then the governing bodies must also show the same in their dealings with athletes and past winners.

Athletes have been kicked off and lost their medals for showing emotion. As in the Swedish Wrestler Ara Abrahamian who in the 2008 games walked off during the ceremonies. He has been stripped of the Bronze for his tantrum and another medalist in the 1992 games was not only stripped of his medal was even after apologizing was then banned for life (sex offenders get less time).
Strong punishment for a hissy fit.

And yet, have we heard an apology from the powers that be for their extreme bad manners in not inviting Spitz?

Yes, he could have gone without the invite but honestly would you? We pride ourselves on our athletes we honor them. Here is a man who earned 7 Gold medals in one sitting and is said to be one of the greatest athletes in all time. All of the other members of this elite group were invited why not Mark? He is a household name. I don't even know the names of the other athletes. What a slap in the face!

Michael and Mark will just have to meet on other turf. Sure would have been nice though to get acknowledged from the greatest swimmer ever, someone you have admired and get an acknowledgement in person.

He had a goal, a purpose and he has made it. A feat that no ordinary man would ever hope to achieve. An amazing 8 for 8 gold medals, 7 World records,16 total, 14 gold medals in one Olympic games.

What is next for this human powerhouse Michael Phelps?
