The Oldest Living Things

The Redwood tree, Sequoia Sempervirens, have been living in the coastal forests of Northern California for over 3000 years.

There are living specimens alive today that were alive when Jesus Christ was said to have lived on earth.

The majority of the northern coast of California was settled by the white man specifically for the harvesting of these ancient trees.

The majority of the homes built in California from the late 1800's to the mid 1900's were framed with Redwood.

The Highway of the Giants in Northern California is the best place to see the old growth giants that remain.

Redwoods are the most unique trees on earth not just because they are the oldest, they are also the hardest to kill.

They are very fire resistant and when they are cut down the root system regenerates new trees around the old stump. This phenomenon is known as fairy rings.

You owe it to yourself to see the majesty of these trees in the lifespan your body is given.
