Rip Off
Thieves these days are really getting quite technical. After getting a phone call from the bank queering some charges several states away I found that over nine hundred dollars had been spent by someone using my ATM card data. Apparently they are using electronic devices that can scan your cards even through your purse, wallet and clothing. They can't get your pin number but they get your account number which they can then use as not all ATM's require a pin number. It is making me think more these days about just using cash only. Which may be more of an inconvenience but if it prevents not having the possibility of having bounced checks, fees etc., then it may just be worth it! Luckily my bank caught the charges and have issued a credit so I don't have to worry about not having enough for mortgage this month. Someone else may not be so lucky. So take care folks hi tech thievery is amongst us. |
